Law Institute of Irkutsk State University  is one of the oldest Russian  law school and the leader of  legal education in Eastern Siberia. Through its 85 year history  Law Institute has educated thousands experts in the field of  law  who are in the  government bodies, law enforcement authorities, judicial bodies, advocacy, customs, tax bodies, law firms. Nowadays Law Institute is the prestigious educational institution in  which the education of  highly professional experts is carried out in the field of a wide spectrum  of law that is considered to be the specifity of university education. The legal elite of modern Russia is formed in the Institute. The main task of the Institute — to follow the traditions of classical fundamental legal education- is realized in an organic combination of scientific and educational activities.

Structural Organization of Law Institute

- Law faculty on a budgetary basis

- Law faculty on a commercial basis

- Faculty of international law

Law Institute performs training of personnel on speciality 02.11.00 «Jurisprudence», herein 4 specializations exist:

- State Law

- Civil Law

- Criminal Law

- International Law 

The structure of Law Institute represents 7 departments:

- Theory and History of State and Law

- Constitutional Law

- Civil Law

- Criminal Law

- Justice and Directorate of Public Prosecution

- Criminalistics and Forensic Expertise

- Department of Foreign Languages 

Moreover, Military Department is functioning in Irkutsk State University.
Students of the Institute study a wide range of humanitarian and specialized subjects: from History and Philosophy of Law, to Rome, Civil, Criminal and International Law; from specialized courses in Tax, Banking, Currency, Customs Law to Arbitrary and Civil Procedure. Recently Law Students have been assimilating Economic Basis of Enterprises Managing, Financial and Economic Management, Crediting and Monetary Circulation Problems.
